2024/2025 Redstone Hunter Safety Orientation Video

RSA hunting begins 30 mins before sunrise and ends 30 mins post sunset. All hunters must be checked out of iSportsman 90 mins aftersunset.

Attention ALL hunters: ​If you are tracking an animal or carrying one to the skinning shed, please call the office and let staff know that you are bringing an animal.


If you are unable to reach staff at our office, please notify CLEO's, if one is unavaliable, leave your name and number on the answering machine and leave the animal in the walk-in cooler and staff will get to it the next morning.  


Note: All firearms must be registered through the Department of Emergency Services on Grey Road. Bows are excluded but must be announced at the gate upon arrival.

In the event iSportsman is down and you are not able to check-in (this excludes making a reservation), All hunters will be REQUIRED to come to our office and manually sign in on the clipboard. Voicemails left via phone will not be acceptable. Hunters must view the range report posted on the door and sign in on the clipboard day of with all appropriate information.

If you are unable to make a reservation, then you must wait till day of to try and check-in. Please Screenshot errors that pop up for reservations and email a staff member from the RSA building. Sometimes the system won’t allow for reservations but will allow for day of check-in. 

No Voicemails can be left for check-ins from this point forward. 

Failure to obey and come by 5138 Sportsman Road (Enviromental Conservation Building) and sign in may result in a suspension of hunting privileges. 

 

RESERVATION SYSTEM: 

ACTIVE DUTY: 1300-1400 (1p.m. until 2 p.m.)

RETIRED: 1400-1500 (2p.m.-3p.m.)

ALL OTHER CATEGORIES AFTER 1500 until 

 

 IF YOU DO NOT CHECK INTO AN AREA BY 08:00 THE SYSTEM REMOVES YOUR RESERVATION. 


Waterfowl Hunting: 

Waterfowl hunting is avaliable to Active Duty and Retired Active Duty only, and their guests. Dogs are allowed, but refer to the 200-3 page 9 for more information. 

For the Special Waterfowl hunt which includes Youth, Active Duty, and Retried Military RSA will have that special hunt on Nov. 23. (For bag limits refer to the state.) You must report your harvest to the state and also in our iSportsman, as well as be brought to the skinning shed and manually written on our kill sheet.   


Turkey Hunting:

 RSA only participates in spring turkey season. Turkey shoot hours are 30 mins prior to sunrise and ends at 16:00. Turkey hunting is prohibited on any portion of Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge. 


Deer Hunting:

 RSA participates in the bow and gun season. 


Weapons allowed on post: (refer to 200-3 Hunting, Fishing, and Trapping policy.)

ALWAYS declare your weapon at the gate.

● Archery-Compound, traditional and Crossbows. Shotguns 20 Ga and larger Muzzleloaders over .45 for Deer (.410 using tungsten shells are now acceptable for turkey)  NO BUCKSHOT!!

● RIFLE CARTRIDGES .350, .450, 45-70 Govt, .44M, 45LC, .357M, .444 Marlin 

● For Squirrel hunting- Pellet guns are permitted. Pellets only NO BB’s


Please Note: Hunting is a privilege and failure to obey the guidelines set by

Hunting, Fishing, and Trapping policy (200-3)

can end in a loss of your ability to hunt on Redstone Arsenal.
